Gerald Mooney, Sr.

Gerald Lee Mooney, Sr., age 86, of Selma, AL, passed away June 6, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Cora Mooney and brothers, George Henry Mooney, Arnold Mooney and Neal Mooney, Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Mooney; sons, Jerry (Laura) Mooney and John (Nancy) Mooney; sister-in-laws, Bennie (Glenn) Stringer, Wiletta Mooney, Jerri (Frank) Threadgill and Caroline (Jim) Threadgill; grandchildren, Michelle Jones, Matt Mooney and Taylor Mooney and great-grandchildren, Byron Jones and Jack Jones.
Funeral service will be Monday, June 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Fancher officiating.  Interment will be in Cambridge Christian Cemetery in Orrville, AL.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Gary King, Taylor Mooney, Blake Jones, Matt Mooney, Todd Threadgill and Cole Stringer.  Honorary pallbearer will be Aden Threadgill.
Mr. Mooney was in World War II where he served as a Gunner Engineer with the U. S. Air Force.  He flew 65 missions over Europe and Germany and received two purple hearts for his bravery.  His plane crashed two days before D-Day.
He was a man of great faith and loved his family very much.  He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
