Dec. Essix Watters

Dec. Essix Watters of Minter, AL died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at a local nursing home.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 1:00pm at Friendship Baptist Church, Minter AL officiated by Pastor John Gilchrist, Jr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Essix was born on August 10, 1928 to the late James and Lue Ella Watters. He was taught and confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Friendship Baptist Church where he served as Deacon until his death. On December 27, 1950 he was united in holy matrimony with Minister Mattie Ruth Watters. To this union twelve children were born. He later married Angelee Snow. To this union two children were born, one preceded him in death: Andrea Lychell Snow.
He leaves to continue his legacy nine sons: Nelson (Debra) Watters, Selma, AL, Lee (Sherry) Watters, Selma, AL, Curtis (Yvette) Thomas, McCalla, AL, Danielle (Delois) Johnson, Detroit, MI, Johnny Snow, Selma, AL, Jamie Leashore, Selma, AL, and Clifton Lamar Snow, Minter, AL; Five daughters, Margaret (George) Fails, Selma, AL, Gloria Sanders, Birmingham, AL, Lois (Tommy) Small, Selma, AL, Jacqueline (Richard) Duff, Birmingham, AL, and Awanda (Jess) Crum, Birmingham, AL; One brother, George Lynn Watters, Cleveland, OH; one sister, Mary Johnson; 41 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A devoted niece, Mary Thicklin, a devoted great-niece, Rashonda Christian, a devoted caregiver, Celia Bell Walker, and a devoted cousin, Lillian Moorer.
