Asbury Middlebrooks, age 83, of Selma, died Tuesday May 19, 2009. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday May 22, 2009 at Pineview Memory Gardens with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ruth Middlebrooks, children; Mary Calloway, Johnny Middlebrooks (Anita), Annie McHugh (Jamie Horton), Wayne Middlebrooks (Debbie), grandchildren; Kim Peake (Lee), Shannon Pipkin (Kevin), Tammy Sims (Hart), Stacy Middlebrooks, Brandon McHugh (Kim), Kerri Chappelle (Chet), Dr. Erik Middlebrooks (Sara), Zachary Middlebrooks and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Judge Johnny Jones, Judge Kim Ballard, Larry Friday, Roy Moore, Connell Towns, Curtis Williams, Larry Nickles and Willie Shanks, his loyal and faithful co-worker.
Mr. Middlebrooks joined the U.S Army at age 17, proudly served during WWII and was a recipient of The Purple Heart. He served forty years in law enforcement with Dallas County Sheriff’s Department and The City of Selma Police Department and the last twenty years as a Dallas County Environmental officer.
