Brian King will put his own stamp on the Morgan Academy varsity football program starting today when he addresses supporters at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
After two seasons as the junior high football coach, King takes over as athletic director and football coach.
The Senators went 5-6 last year and advanced to the first round of the playoffs.
“I am really excited to be back at Morgan Academy this year,” said King, a 2002 Morgan graduate who played at Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss. “It’s rewarding to follow the players who I have coached the past two years.”
King said, however, today’s meeting will stress infrastructure and not football formations.
“We are going to look at the program from a facilities standpoint and the direction we need to take,” King said.
He declined to be specific about where the school will focus its energy during the summer or what the football team will run on offense and defense next season.
“I’ve been playing around with everything,” he said. “For now, we need to look at the projects we need to work on during the summer.”
