Mary LaVigne

Mary Pearl LaVigne, 87, of Marion, Al went to be with her Lord on April 16, 2009 at DCH in Tuscaloosa. Mrs. LaVigne was born on September 9, 1921 in Walker County to the late Claude and Meadie Cummingham Sherer. She is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Fred Lynn LaVigne; two sisters, Lillian Hill and Claudia Busby and two brothers, Howard and C. W. Sherer. She is survived by her daughters, Sherer B. Averette (James) of Marion and Joyce B. Colburn of Gulf Port, MS; her sons, Paul Hester (Mary) of Alabaster and Thomas W. Bolen, Jr. (Mary) of Dallas, TX; one sister, Delora Waddell of Eagle Rock, VA. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Mrs. Becky Gordan (Adam), Mrs. Annesia Miller (Jason), Mrs. Teresa Pope (Thomas), Miss Cathy Averette, Mr. Jonathan Averette (Charlie) and Mrs. JoAnn Jackson (Jonathan); and six great grandchildren, Payton and Emma Pope, Tristan Miller, Justin Thomas Miller, Katelyn Jackson and Leah Gordan. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20, 2009 at 2 pm Siloam Baptist Church with the Reverend Scott Schuyler officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Wilfred’s Cemetery. Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel will be directing the services. Active pall-bearers will be Jonathan Averette, Thomas Pope, Jason Miller, Dr. Adam Gordan, Richard Deavours, and Vincent Petix. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Siloam Baptist Church, 505 Washington Street, Marion, AL 36756 or Southland Nursing Home Activities Fund, c/o Cindy Harrison, 500 Shivers Terrace, Marion, Alabama 36756. The family would like to ex-tend a special thank you to the staff and residents of Southland Nursing Home for showing Mrs. LaVigne unconditional love and care during her time at the facility.
