Tuscaloosa 7, Morgan 3 (Wednesday)
Morgan lost to Tuscaloosa Academy 7 – 3 on Wednesday. Morgan picked up seven hits on the day from Forrest Hughes (two singles two runs scored), Connor Thorpe (one single, one double, two RBIs, one run scored), Thomas Austin (two singles, one RBI) and Jay Gilmer (one Single)
Connor Thorpe pitched a complete game, but took the loss for the Senators.
Morgan 12, Kingwood Christian 5 (Thursday)
Morgan picked up 13 hits in a 12-5 win over Kingwood Christian on Thursday.
Johnny Watts led the Senators with three singles, one walk and two RBIs. He also scored three runs. Ryan Traylor added a 3-run home run and three RBIs and scored two runs. Reid Fondren collected three RBIs on two doubles. Thomas Austin picked up two doubles and one RBI, and crossed the plate three times. Tyler Lawrence had two singles and one RBI, Connor Thorpe finsihed with one double and Jay Gilmer scored two runs and notched an RBI on two singles.
Ryan Traylor earned the win for the Senators.
Softball
Dallas County 14, Southside 0 (Thursday)
For the second year in a row Dallas County secured at least a share of the area title with a 14-0 win over area foe, Southside, on Thursday.
Whitney Denson (5-0) picked up the victory on the mound while recording 11 strikeouts. She also belted a two-run double that gave the Hornets an early 7-0 advantage. In the top of the third inning, Alicia Blackmon drew a walk and scored on a Rodneshia Vinson triple.
