Golda Woodson DeBray, age 87 passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, March 2, 2009 in Selma.Born in Uniontown, Alabama on September 22, 1921, Golda Woodson was married to M.C. “Bub” DeBray for 68 years. The DeBrays made their home and raised their children in Selma.Known as a tireless advocate for all children and especially those with special needs, Mrs. DeBray was, for years, a housemother at the Methodist Children’s Home and served on Selma’s mental health board. She and Bub were also longtime hospital volunteers. She was preceded in death by husband Bub and daughter Cassie, as well as brothers and sisters; Robert Hunter Woodson, Poole Woodson, Fritz Woodson, Rufus Woodson, Thomas Woodson, Emma Battle and Eloise Kane. She is survived by sisters Annie Routon and Virginia Sobera, sons Albert and Charles, grandsons Jason and Chad, and great-grandson
Waylon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Reverend Glenn Smith officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to
