Dallas County beats Demopolis 2-1
Dallas County opened its season with a 2-1 win over rival Demopolis.
Kimberly Ross led off the Hornets’ sixth inning with a walk and promptly stole second. She moved to third on a groundout by Debra Cunningham. Keneasha Jefferson followed with an infield hit and stole second to score Ross, and later scored on a passed ball to push the Hornets lead to 2-0.
Demopolis added a run in the bottom of the seventh on a late rally. But, with runners on second and third, Dallas County pitcher Cassie Daniels ended the game with a strikeout.
Daniels limited Demopolis to one base runner and one hit over five innings.
Ross led all hitters with a double and triple. Jefferson and Ciera Ingram added two singles apiece. Whitney Denson and Avery Mott also added hits in the game.
