The death of Mrs. Grutzmacher occurred on February 7, 2009 at her home in Sacramento, California. Born in Selma on April 8, 1920, she was educated in the Selma Public Schools and was a graduate of the University of Alabama. During World War II, she served overseas with the American Red Cross. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Eckardt.
She is survived by her husband, Don Grutzmacher; a son, Dr. Richard (Debbie) Grutzmacher of Sacramento, CA; a sister, Jacqueline Russell Patton, of Selma, AL; three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
