Funeral service for D.B. Jones, 88 of Opelika is 11:00a.m. Friday, February 6, 2009 at 10th Street Church of Christ. Minister Claude Flynn is officiating. Burial is in Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church Thursday from 6-8p.m.
Mr. Jones who was born November 1, 1920 in Chickasaw, Alabama died at his home Wednesday, February 4, 2009. He had been a resident of Opelika for over 62 years, and was a former Mayor of Opelika. He was Founder and Owner of East Alabama Auto Parts. Mr. Jones was a member of Opelika Kiwanis Club, and was an Elder at 10th Street Church of Christ. He was past Board Member of Faulkner University, past president of Opelika Chamber of Commerce, member of Opelika Industrial Development Board, and Former Board Chairman of Colonial Bank of Lee County.
Mr. Jones is survived by wife, Jean Wilson Jones; two daughters, Donna (Aaron)Lucas , Jenny (Temple) Anderson; son, David (Melissa) Jones; brother, Roy (Adella) Jones of Selma; grandchildren, Eric (Kerri) Lucas, Gina (Robert) Smith, Amy (Matt) Grilliot, Allison (Steve) Sansom, Bryan Jones, Wil Anderson, Katie (Daniel) Mundie; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by grand-son, Jeffrey Anderson.
