Mr. Samuel Garrett, Sr., 86, of Sardis, AL departed this life on Thursday, December 25, 2008. Services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 12 Noon at Good Hope Baptist Church, 930 County Road 12, Sardis, Alabama. With Rev. John L. Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Lewis Brothers Funeral Services. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Lila Garrett; six sons, Sammy Jr. (Pennsylvania), Hosea (Nevel) of Selma, AL, Melvin (Sallie) of Sardis, AL, Hubert (Pamela) of Birmingham, AL, Milton (Linda Faye), and Willie (Suzanne) of Huntsville, AL; two daughters, Ganell (Jimmy) Ingram of Middleburg, Florida and Shirley (Levente) Stewart of Birmingham, AL; a devoted grand daughter, Latoya Bolden of Montgomery, AL; three brothers, Fred Garrett, Willie (Mildred) Garrett of Birmingham, AL, and Leo Garrett of Los Angeles, CA; three sisters, Ethel Bell Peterson of Selma, AL, Addie Wade of Birmingham, AL, and Claudia McConico of Chicago, IL; a devoted sister-in-law, Gay Belle (Arthur) Hardy of Birmingham, AL. He also leaves nineteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
