Panthers advance in Keith tournament

Southside earned a 64-46 win over Calhoun (5-5) to advance to the finals of the Keith High Christmas Basketball Tournament on Tuesday.

The Panthers (5-7) jumped out to a 28-9 first quarter lead, and led 44-30 at the half. They extended the lead to 60-38 in the third quarter.

“Overall, I was proud of my team because we played a full, complete game,” said Southside coach Cedric Brown. “We defended well and distributed the ball well.”

Four Southside players finished in double figures. LaQuentin Gunn led all scorers with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Desmond Moore finished with 11 points. Demarrious Pratt and Devion Dukes came off the bench to contribute 10 points apiece.

Rodrecious Bibb led Calhoun with 11 pts and Robert McCall added 10.
