Eugene Norfleet Sr.

Eugene Norfleet, Sr., 90, a resident of Selma passed Nov. 30, 2008 at Warren Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Sat. Nov. 6, 2008 at 11 am from Shiloh Baptist Church of Potter’s Station with Pastor Dan Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Garden with J. H. Williams &Sons Funeral Home directing.
Eugene was born on April 7, 1918 to Norris and Clara Pope Norfleet in Dallas County where he lived all his life.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Mary Barnett. Their love and respect for each other grew as they worked together through the years to raise their three children until her death. In 1980m Eugene married Delia Harris Melton.
For over 67 years, Eugene was a member of Shiloh Bapt. Church where he was a choir member and served on the Deacon Board. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and eight sisters.
Survivors include his wife Delia Harris Melton Norfleet; two sons Eugene (Janett) Norfleet, Jr. of Selma and Rev. Willie (Willie Mae) Norfleet of Midland City, AL; one daughter Mary B. (John) Dillard of Ozark, AL; four step-daughters, Minister Mary (Minister Derrick) Miller of Kansas City, MO, Beverly (Alfred) Blackmon, Jeannette (Jerome) Lee and Clementine “Jill” Melton (Kenneth King) all of Selma; 9 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 9 great grand-children, 11 step-great grandchildren; one brother Ed Norfleet of Milford, DE; two sisters Clara Patrick of Huntsville and Carrie Mincey of Ozark, AL plus many other relatives and friends.
