Suspect arrested in GWC shooting
Earlier Friday afternoon, Selma police officers and detectives began investigating a shooting that occurred at G.W.C. Apartments.
Shortly after 2 p.m., officers responded to a call and found a 36-year-old man wounded twice by gunshots.
“One shot struck him in the right calf, and the second shot struck him in the left foot,” said Lt. David Evans, a spokesman for the Selma Police Department.
Witnesses told officers the suspect used a handgun.
Evans said witnesses also identified the suspect, who officers apprehended a short distance from the scene.
“The suspect is currently in police custody and will be charged with first-degree assault this afternoon, according to Det. Frederick Walker,” Evans said.
Kevin Rivers, 28, a Selma resident, is in custody, the police spokesman said.
“Since the case is still being investigated, further details will be released at a later time when they become available,” Evans said.
