James Burcham

Tech SGT. James Lester Burcham, 70, of Bonifay, Florida, passed away at his
residence on Friday, July 25, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Ray Burcham of
Burnsville, Mississippi, and one brother, Bobby Lewis Burcham, of
Burnsville, Mississippi.
Mr. Burcham was also preceded in death by one son, Bobby Burcham, of Selma,
Alabama.
Mr. Burcham was born in Burnsville, Mississippi. He served as a Flight
Instructor at Craig Air Force Base in Selma, Alabama until 1974, when he
transferred to Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas, where he retired as
Tech Sargeant.
Mr. Burcham is survived by two sisters, Margaret (Bill) Alexander of
Hickory, Kentucky, Martha Burcham of Iuka, Mississippi, and two brothers,
Harold Burcham of Tampa, Florida and Ronnie Burcham of Tallahassee, Florida.
Mr. Burcham is also survived by his wife, Wilma Burcham of Selma, Alabama,
two daughters, Susan (Billy) Chavers of Jones, Alabama, and Cindy Burcham of
Selma, Alabama, two sons, Steve Burcham of Selma, Alabama and Sammy Leland
Burcham of Bonifay, Florida.
He is survived by five grandchildren: Wendy (Bryan) Pickering, Don
(Jennifer) Lester, Jr., James Ray Lester, Shana Jones and Kelsey Jones, all
of Selma, Alabama.
Mr. Burcham also leaves behind six precious great-grandchildren: Kara
Pickering, Whitt Lester, Mary Calyn Lester, Kyser Pickering, Hannah Lester,
all of Selma, and Ethan Michael Reese McMillan, of Warner Robins, Georgia.
Mr. Burcham also leaves behind many dear friends.
Services were held in Bonifay, Florida, with Pastor James Bush of Pine Hill
Church officiating on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 and he received full military
honors.
