Ms. Mattie Lee Courtland, 76, of Selma died Monday, June 30, 2008, in Wayne, Michigan.

WILSON, ROBERT CARMICHAEL &8220;Bob,&8221; age 81, died at his Irondale, Alabama home on June 30, 2008 in the care of his family after an extended illness. He was born December 2, 1926 in Jackson, Alabama and raised in Selma, Alabama.

Upon high school graduation, Mr. Wilson went into the Army Specialized Training Program at North Georgia College and VPI in Virginia.

After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he attended the University of Alabama where he earned Bachelor&8217;s and Master&8217;s degrees. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He also attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he was a doctoral candidate. There, he met his wife Doris. They married in 1952 and moved back to Selma.

Mr. Wilson worked in the family business in Selma at Perrins Cafeteria for many years and also worked as a manager at the Selma Country Club. His family later moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where he retired from Jefferson County Health Department. He was a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church near Birmingham for 31 years.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, John and Allene Wilson; his grandson, Travis D.

Bowman; his brother, John D. Wilson; and his sister-in-law, Rosemary.

Survivors include Mr. Wilson&8217;s wife, Doris; son and daughter-in-law, Robert, Jr., and Linda Wilson; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Jim Johnson of Dothan, and Jan and Dale Bow-man of Prattville; and grandsons, Wesley Bowman, David Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Robert Wilson III, and Spencer Wilson.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on July 2, 2008 at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. the same day at the church with Dr. Gary Furr and Dr. C. Otis Brooks officiating. Graveside service will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.
