A Dallas County grand jury has issued a capital murder indictment for a Selma man.

Thurston S. Baynes, 26, of 818 Minter Ave., faces two counts of capital murder, stemming from an Oct 2005 incident.

District Attorney Michael Jackson acknowledged the indictment Tuesday, saying Baynes faces arraignment in about three months in Dallas County Circuit Court.

The indictment alleges Baynes involvement in the deaths of Ernest Harell, 56, and Philip Coleman, 26, killed just before midnight Oct. 28, 2005. Both victims bodies were discovered at Harrell&8217;s Duke Street home.

Investigators said both men suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities arrested Baynes in December during his release from the Dallas County Jail. Baynes remains in the jail without bond.

Johnson Woods, 24, of 824 Small St., pleaded guilty several days before Baynes arrest, to conspiracy to commit murder, instead of standing trial on two counts of capital murder.

Jackson said his office and police investigators decided to arrest Baynes nearly eight months ago and accuse him of capital murder based on information gleaned while building the case against Woods.

Judge Jack Meigs sentenced Woods to serve two 31-year sentences to run concurrently, meaning at the same time.
