Dear editor,

Selma should be proud and thankful to have such a valuable resource to call their own in Dr. Bruce Taylor. He is providing the template for business success, service and leadership for the Black Belt community.

In the short time since he chose Selma and Dallas County as the place to locate his practice, he has established a paradigm aimed at providing excellent health care for an area stricken with debilitating illnesses that wreak havoc on adults and seniors.

His practice, Taylor Internal Medicine, specializes in patient care for those living and with

high blood pressure, arthritis, osteoporosis, heart disease and others of high significance relating to this area of the country.

Educating patients is one of the key components Dr. Taylor adds to care and maintenance of his customers. Prevention is at the heart of educating the community.

The recent 4th Annual Dallas County Health fair is indicative of the effort and compassion he has for his adopted surroundings. He has recognized the need for preventive medicine, wholesome entertainment and increased entrepreneurial spirit as mechanisms that can infuse energy and opportunity into a community lacking such a vision.

Dr. Taylor employs a competent, dynamic and diverse staff that compliments his efforts by their diligence and dedication.

He has and continues to sponsor many events in this community that involves and benefits people from all walks of life.

He has a special affinity for helping young people. Many others can attest to this fact by the numerous contributions of assets he commits to making projects and programs come to fruition throughout this area.

For years I have witnessed these happenings from afar, but recently had the pleasure to have him speak to a group of beautiful children that just graduated from Clark Elementary School. He shared a personal story of difficulty and triumph to inspire the children to rise above circumstances and use hope and promise as the tools to ascend to great heights.

He challenged them with some attainable goals that would help them receive a tuition-free college education.

Through his philanthropic efforts and collaboration with several corporate partners he notified the students, parents and teachers of the promise to pay for the higher education of these graduates as these goals are met.

These families now have the hope and promise that can be an agent of change and integral need in breaking the cycle of generational poverty.

His partnership with schools, families and other organizations are a blueprint we should all challenge ourselves to follow in order to contribute to the overall community.

As a community, let’s commend Dr. Taylor, his wife, Danica, and his staff for a job well done.
