Victor Nissan beats Quality Trophy to win championship

Quality Trophy’s win Friday forced a second game, but Victor Nissan came back strong in a 13-6 win in the 11-12 slowpitch softball championship game Saturday at the Sportsplex.

Victor Nissan scored two runs in the first inning. Natasha Parrish walked and scored on Ayana Moore’s RBI triple. A throwing error allowed Ayana Moore to score on the play.

In the top of the second inning, Quality Trophy’s Nekeda Cobb tripled and scored on Alexis Gunn’s groundout.

Jashira Whitlock, Keuana Morrison, and Parrish all singled and scored in the bottom half of the inning to give Victor Nissan a 5-1 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Ayana Moore singled and scored on Chantel Crum’s RBI single to add to the lead.

Quality Trophy scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at 6-6.

Herneshyia Walker, Vina Oliver, and Imani Roy all walked. Andrenekia Milhouse hit a bases loaded double to score Walker and Oliver.

Jashawn Davis followed with a two-RBI single to score Roy and Milhouse. Cobb then singled in Davis.

Victor Nissan answered with seven runs of its own in the bottom of the fourth.

Morrison, Rodaisha Holman, Parrish, Walker, Ayana Moore, Irishia Moore, and Candace Moore all scored in the inning.

Ayana Moore’s hit was a three-run homerun. Candace Moore scored the final run of the game on Whitlock’s RBI single.

Victor Nissan’s defense was able to hold Quality Trophy scoreless the last three innings of play.

Candace Moore was the winning pitcher for Victor Nissan.
