Edward C. Vickers

Edward C. Vickers, 52, of Selma died Wednesday, June 11, 2008.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, June 21 at Freedom Baptist, 1910 Summerfield Rd. Selma, AL, with Rev. James Spicer Sr. officiating.

Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetary under the direction of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

Preceded in death by parents Joe & Zettie Vickers Sr.; and brother, Joe Vickers Jr.

Survivors include two children, Charles and Morris Walker; two grandchildren, Shannovia and Tyrese Walker- all of Chicago, IL.; three brothers,

Robert Vickers, Morris Vickers (Jocelyn), and Eugene Vickers (Wanda)- all from Selma; five sisters, Ida McCrary (Darryl)- Montgomery, AL, Clarice

Robinson (Frankie) Janie Thomas, (Roger)- both from Selma, AL., Linda Gilchrist

(Milton), Jackie Vickers- both from Montgomery, AL.

Visitation is Friday, June 20, 2008, 6pm-7pm at Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

Betty “Jean” Fancher McCain

Betty “Jean” Fancher McCain, age 72, passed away peacefully in Fort Walton Beach, FL on Monday, June 16, 2008 of ovarian cancer.

Jean was born in Sprott, AL on May 8, 1936.

She was a master seamstress and she enjoyed painting pictures, shopping yard sales and collecting trinkets of all kinds.

Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends and always lent a helping hand when needed.

Jean is survived by her brother,

Carlos Brooks Fancher, Jr. of Selma, AL; sons, John (Tonya) McCain and Rusty (Diane) McCain

of Mary Esther, FL; grandchildren, Tiffany, Stephanie, Lyle, John, Misti and Tony; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Dallas, McKinley, Hannah, Ashley and Carlos.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and very special, dear friends that Jean descends her love upon.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos Brooks Fancher and Bertha Mobley Fancher; brothers, Woodrow, Pete and Cecil; sister, Kora; and her beloved husband, Donald G. McCain.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

The family sends love and wishes to thank Woodrow Fancher, Jr and his family for all of the love and support shown to Jean and the comfort given to the family throughout her last weeks.

She is an Angel – given to us – to love and cherish, and in return – She has a true loving, caring spirit in which we are better people for knowing.

She has touched our lives so deeply in her own special way.

Frank Woodson “Woody” Smyth, M.D.

Frank Woodson “Woody” Smyth, M. D., a resident of Dothan, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at his residence.

He was 52.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity with Rev. Ede Plovanich officiating and Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing.

A reception will follow the services.

Dr. Smyth was born August 31, 1955 in Foley,

Alabama, the son of Frank and Elizabeth Woodson Smyth.

He was a graduate of Foley High School and the University of Alabama. He received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama.

Dr. Smyth began his practice in Urology in 1986 in Selma, Alabama where he practiced until

1992.

He joined Urological Associates in Dothan in 1993.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity where he served on the vestry.

Dr. Smyth was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Smyth, Dothan; son, Drew Smyth, Dothan; aunt, Virginia Reeves, Troy, AL.

Jessie Lee Wolfe

Jessie Lee Wolfe, age seven months, passed away June 12, 2008.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Selma Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing.
