Cora Clarice Rankin

Cora Clarice Rankin, age 78, of Selma died Thursday, June 12, 2008 at a local hospital.

Services will be held on Monday, June 16, 2008 at Westwood Church of God at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jonathan Lambert officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing, with a private burial Tuesday for family at New Live Oak Cemetery.

She is preceded in death by her parents William &8220;Bill&8221; Chapelle and Maggy Bane Chapelle, son, Chester Rader, brother, James Chapelle, and sister Boots Chapelle Litzenburg.

Mrs. Rankin is survived by her husband, John Ed Rankin, children, Donnie Rader (Marsha), and Donna James (Hank), five grandchildren, Justin Campbell, Anessa Rader, Jared Rader, Kendra (Mickey) Hurst, Caleb Rader, great grandchild, Dayton Rader, and sister, Faye Andrews.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, June 16, 2008 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Furman Eugene Cothran

Cothran, Furman Eugene, (USAF, MSgt., Ret&8217;d), 72, a resident of Prattville, AL, died peace-fully at home on Friday, June 13, 2008, following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 16, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing.

Mr. Cothran proudly served his country as a Veteran of United States Air Force for 21 years and was stationed in the Southeast during the Vietnam War. In appreciation for his service, the Maxwell Air Force Base Honor Guard will render full military honors and will also act as pallbearers. Mr. Cothran was granted a lifetime membership in good standing with the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Following his military career, Mr. Cothran was an agent with the Internal Revenue Service for many years prior to becoming a co-owner and operator, with his beloved wife, Barbara Cothran, of Cothran and Cothran Associates, an accounting firm in Prattville, AL.

In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Valorie Cothran , Monica Cothran, and her spouse, Steven Applebaum; one sister , Joann (Joe) Rouche; and three brothers, Frank (Nancy) Cothran, Thomas (Ann) Cothran, and Steven (Sandra) Gray. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Mildred Shaw

Mildred Shaw, 46, of Selma, AL died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Vaughan Regional Hospital.

Services will be held Monday, June 16, 2008, at Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joseph Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include three brothers; Lee Berry Sr., Willie James Shaw, and Howard Shaw, four sisters; Betty Ellis, Josephine Vaughan, Mamie L. Johnson, and Mary B. Shaw.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

James Eldon Foster

DEMOPOLIS &045; Mr. James Eldon Foster, age 96, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Woodhaven Manor in Demopolis.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 16, 2008 at Westside Baptist church with Rev. Richard Scott officiating. Interment will follow at New River Cemetery in Eldridge with graveside services at 3:00 P.M. with Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors of Demopolis directing services.

The family will receive friends at Westside Baptist Church Monday from 9:30 A.M. until the service time.

Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his parents, James Foster and Mary Williams Foster; his wife, Lillie Killingworth Foster; his son, Billy Ray Foster; his sisters, Frankie Donavant, Hulda Williams and

Kitty Donohoo; one brother, John De Foster

Survivors include his son, James W. Foster and his wife Glen of Selma

His daughter, Virginia Seales of Demopolis,nine grandchildren, Mike (Susan) Foster, Mark Foster, Alan (Katherine) Foster, Chris (Vanya) Foster, Darien Foster, Brian (Sherry) Foster, Todd (Peggy) Foster, Paul Foster, Steven (Ralene) Foster, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Dr. Paul Ketcham and Dr. Keith Dismukes and the medical staff; Southern Care Hospice nurses and staff.

James Franklin Miller

James Franklin Miller, Sr., age 78, of Selma, AL passed away June 14, 2008.

Surviving are his wife, Audrey Luker Miller; sons, James Franklin (Bettie) Miller, Jr., Donald (Mickey) Miller, Marvin G. (Brenda) Miller, Gregory A. (Debra) Miller, Charles B. (Jennifer) Miller.

Sisters, Marie Vick, Rose Lee (Bud) Morgan, Rhonita Thompson, and Peggy (Bob) Wesley; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Minister Dennis Turner officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 15, 2008 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Miller&8217;s grandsons, Ricky Miller, Jeff Miller, Mikey Miller, Matthew Miller, Kyle Miller, Bryant Miller, Chad Miller, Layne Smitherman and Randy Smitherman.

Mr. Miller&8217;s former co-workers at Miller Lumber Company will serve as honorary pallbearers.
