Art Scroggins hasn&8217;t personally seen the face of war, but that doesn&8217;t mean he is immune to it.

He found it only fitting that he attend the VFW Post 3016&8217;s annual Memorial Day tribute.

Scroggins said he will visit the World War II monument in Washington for the first time with his father next week.

He attended Monday&8217;s tribute with his mother-in-law, Margaret Griffin. Her husband, Everett, was a prisoner of war for two years in Germany.

War stories and hugs were passed around most of the morning, and some people had even more to be thankful about on such a solemn day.

Wesley Duckett flew into Fort Bragg last month from Afghanistan, much to the relief of his family. He was with the Army&8217;s 82nd Airborne Division.
