Cornelius Ralph White

Cornelius Ralph White, age 85, passed away Saturday May 17, 2008.

Preceding Mr. White in death is his parents James Lawley White and Mattie Ash White and brother, James Carson White.

He is survived by his wife Allie V. White; Sons, Dennis (Carol) White and Tim (Barbara) White; Daughter, Becky (Ronald) Barnes; Sisters, Nita Childs, Gladys (J.B.) Peake, Ruby Henley and Lillian (Gene) Acton;

Grandchildren, Pat (Tammy) White, Tami (Derrick) Boswell, Alison (Shannon) Ethridge, Garrett (Leah) White, Justin (Henley) Barnes and Katie White; Great-grandchildren, McLean White, Clint White, Blaine White, Paige Boswell, Shelby Boswell, Emily Ethridge, Brady Ethridge, Aidan Barnes.

Visitation will be Monday May 19, 2008 from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Dr. Kenny Hatcher officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Pat White, Garrett White, Derrick Boswell, Brian Harris, Shannon Ethridge and Justin Barnes. The members of Mr. White&8217;s Sunday school class at Northside Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Ralph Howard Harris

Ralph Howard Harris, age 76, went home to claim the last drop of blood his Lord shed for him, Friday May 16, 2008 after a lengthy illness at a Montgomery hospital.

Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday May 19, 2008 at the Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel.

Graveside services will follow at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery, with Reverend Rod Rochester officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers include: Kent Harris, Danny Gaylor, Donnie Davis, Billy Moore, Frank Moore, Mark Harris, Donnie Harris and Tommy Harris. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Hitt, Judge Johnny Jones, Pete Smith and B.S. Tucker.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents R.C. and Bertha Harris, brothers Bobby Harris, Edward Harris, and Carroll Harris, and brother-in-law, Bill Moore.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Naoma P. “Prissy” Harris, daughter Brenda P. Harris Lovelady, son Johnny Ray (Krystal) Harris, grandchildren, Sussanne York, Nikki (Donnie) Davis, Felecia Strickland, six great-grandchildren, sisters, Bernice Moore, Dorothy (Joe) Hitt, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 18, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Mr. Harris was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved the Lord and his church family. He enjoyed singing and playing music, fishing and helping others. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to Water Avenue Baptist Church youth, Crosspoint Christian Church youth or favorite charity.

Vension &8220;Jay&8221; Baker

Vension &8220;Jay&8221; Baker, age 77, passed away Saturday May 17, 2008.

His granddaughter Marion Elizibeth &8220;Beth&8221; Gault precedes Mr. Baker in Death.

Surviving Mr. Baker is his wife Tevya Baker; sons, James W. Montgomery and Bill McIver; daughter, Judy (Brian) Johnson; brothers-in-law, Brandt (Nancy) Kuperstock and Ted Robinson; sister, Geraldine (Lee) Murr; grandchildren, Bobby Lynn Johnson and Brian Eugene Johnson, Jr.; great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Elizibeth Reedy; niece, Melba (Sam) Odean; nephew, Rex Allen Murr and a host of other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Rev. Rod Rochester and Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Richard Dean Hain

Richard Dean “Ricky” Hain, 49 of Woodstock, Georgia, died Wednesday May 14, 2008 from injuries sustained in an accident. Graveside services will be held Monday May 19, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Sardis, Alabama. With Reverend Buddy Hood officiating and Lawrence Brown -Service Funeral Home directing. Richard was born in Sardis, Alabama to the late William B. and Nadine Hain. A devoted family man, Ricky enjoyed the simple things in life. He was happiest just spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of twenty seven years, Pamela Reid Hain of Woodstock, Ga., son Joseph Hain and wife Amy of Washington, DC, daughter Abbie Hain of Woodstock, Ga., granddaughter Mackenzie Lee Hain, brothers William “Bill” Hain of Sandy Springs, Ga., Kelly Hain and wife Christi of Canton, Ga., sister Leigh Gaines and husband Terry of Deatsville, Al., uncle Thomas Kelly of Sardis, Al., Jim Marrs of Alexandria, Va., cousins, Grace Sullivan of Gulfport, Ms, Vickie Mattle of Marietta, Ga., Kathy Marrs of Richmond, Va., Fred Marrs of Charleston, Wv., Kelly Marrs of Alexandria, Va., granddaughter Mackenzie Lee Hain, close family friend Johnny Hines and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Marie Boyd died on May 17, 2008.

Beatrice L. Chaney, 52, of Selma,died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at her home.
