Walter J. Woods

Walter J. Woods, 48, of Jones, AL died Thursday May 1, 2008 at Vaughan Regional Hospital.

Services are scheduled for 12 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008 at St. Matthews Baptist with the Rev. James Peoples, Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in the Church cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include his wife, Veleshia Adkins; parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Winston (Margaret) Woods; one

son, Walter James Lee; two step-children, LaMarcus and Willomena Adkins; two brothers, Melvin (Linda) Woods, Allen (Sylvia) Woods of Autaugaville; one sister, Margaret Woods of Mississippi; six aunts; three uncles and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rosie Lee (Pearl) Shannon

Rosie Lee (Pearl) Shannon, 71, of Selma, AL died Tuesday April 29, 2008 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for 1 pm, Saturday, May 10, 2008 at New Sister Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Karl Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in New Sister Springs Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Inc.

She was preceded in death by her husband, late Willie Shannon, Sr. and parents, late Lue Ella and Richard Hall.

Survivors include three sons, Willie James (Arcange) Shannon, Davis France Arthur Lee of Uniontown, Tyrone (Varalie) Shannon of

Selma; three daughters, Debra (Lozell) Moorer, Daffaine Shannon of Selma and Lue Ella (Jessie) Lewis of Orrville; four brothers,

Roosevelt, Johnny (Maggie), Joseph, all of Selma, and Willie Hall of Birmingham; five sisters, Sadie Frison Brighten, Hattie Smith, Margaret Martin, Josephine (Jean) Joseph of New York and Annie Woods; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; one devoted and dedicated niece, Dorothy Martin.

Leona V. Lett Dailey

Leona V. Lett Dailey, 95, of Selma, died Wednesday May 7, 2008 at Vaughan Regional Hospital.

Services are scheduled for 11 am, Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev.

R.T. Mortan officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include two brothers, Rev. James A. Lett of Jackson, Ms. and Richard L. Lett of Monroeville; sister-in-laws, Mrs. Earline W. Lett

of Selma and Esther J. Lett of Monroeville; nephews, Drs. Charles and Samuel Lett, Dr. Verdell L. Dawson and niece, Annie Delores Williams.

Mr. James Austin

Mr. James Austin, 65, of Selma, Alabama died Sunday May 4, 2008 at Warren Manor Nursing Home.

Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at Millers Chapel.

Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery under the direction of

Miller Funeral Service, Inc.

Survivors include two sons, James and John Pettway; one brother, Herbert Austin and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Joe W. Ford of Selma, AL died

May 7, 2008 at Jefferson County Hospital.
