The buses ran as normal Monday.

City school bus drivers were back at work after staging a sick out on Friday. One bus driver did call in sick Monday, but there were enough drivers to cover the route.

It was reported on Sunday that first-graders at Edgewood Elementary had to cancel their field trip because of the sickout, but thanks to their principal, Concetta Burton, the trip was on.

After hearing the news, Burton immediately got on the phone and chartered a bus for the fieldtrip.

Burton said she has a good group of students at Edgewood, and she wants to keep them happy.

Nobody reportedly missed school on Friday, but Selma Early College Student Kayla Chappell was late for class. Chappell is a

Selma High School 10th-grader, and she uses the school bus to catch a ride from the high school to Wallace Community College.

Students from Byrd Elementary School got their exercise when they had to walk to Bloch Park for a field trip instead of riding the bus.
