In what turned out to be the Lady Hornets’ final game of the season, they fell to Greenville 6-4.

The Hornets (21-7) took a 2-0 lead in the third when Kimberly Ross reached on an error. Doubles by Keneasha Jefferson and Cassie Daniels plated two runs.

Greenville scored three runs in the fourth after loading the bases.

All three runners came in to score on two errors by the Hornets.

The Hornets regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth as Tiffany Ellis reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a single by Rodnesha Vinson. Vinson then scored on a single by Albertina Miller.

The lead held until the top of the seventh.

Greenville was down to its last strike before scoring a run to tie the game. An error led to the deciding runs.

Miller led the Lady Hornets at the plate with two hits, followed by one hit each by Whitney Denson, Jefferson, Daniels and Vinson.

Dallas County opened up the area tournament Friday against Wilcox-Central, and Denson had a perfect game going until the fifth inning. The Hornets went on to an 11-1 victory. Ilicia Stewart led the Hornets at the plate with three hits, and Myranda Girlie added two hits.

Next, the Hornets had to take on rival Demopolis. In the top of the seventh, Demopolis regained the lead for good on two walks and a score off an error to take the 4-2 victory.
