Incumbent Curtis Williams has announced his candidacy for Dallas County Commission District 3.

Williams stated he shares a common goal with other county officials to provide a better life for citizens through jobs and other opportunities.

Williams’ previous work on the commission includes a bridge project on County Road 182, an outdoor weather warning system for unincorporated areas of the county and communication system for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department and Emergency Management office, a boot camp for non-violent juveniles and striping and paving of county roads.

Williams was born in Orrville and has been a lifelong resident of the county’s District 3 area. He received a bachelor’s degree in government and economics and a master’s degree in political science with a certificate in administration from Alabama State University.

He was also awarded a Master of Divinity degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta, and has completed additional coursework through Auburn University and the University of Alabama. Williams is assistant principal at Southside High School.

Williams is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and a member of First Baptist Church in Orrville. He pastors in Perry and Dallas counties. Williams is a member of the National Professional Education Association and the Professional Education Associations for Alabama and Dallas County.

Williams is married to Jerolene Turner Williams, and the couple has three children, Latanglia Marshay, Curtis Jr. and Rosa Pink.
