Any changes in voting precincts in the city will come after the Aug. 26 municipal elections.

Several complaints about polling places at the old KFC building, Northern Heights Presbyterian church and Ford&8217;s Grocery after the February bond issue election have prompted city officials to look at alternates.

City attorney Jimmy Nunn told the Selma City Council on Monday that changing sites wouldn&8217;t be hard. Changes will wait until after the municipal elections this summer, so the public won&8217;t become confused. But finding a site won&8217;t be difficult, Nunn said.

Some of the council members want to keep voting out of local churches. Others would like to use public buildings, such as fire stations, as polling places.

Ford&8217;s Grocery and Northern Heights Presbyterian are in Ward 6. The old KFC building is in Ward 2.

The owner of the KFC building said he plans to tear down the building. The heating system doesn&8217;t work, and the roof leaks.

Members of the Northern Heights Presbyterian Church say the church&8217;s elders are too old to deal with city elections.

The owners of Ford&8217;s Grocery haven&8217;t made a request for the city to move its polling place, but election workers said ventilation is poor in the summer and the store is too small.
