Margaret Steele Thomas

Margaret Steele Thomas, 58, of Selma passed April 24, 2008.

Services are scheduled for Thurs. May 1, 2008 at 1 p.m. from Ebenezer Bapt Church with Pastor F.D. Reese officiating.

Burial will be in Pineview Memory Garden directed by J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Essie Lee Martin

Mrs. Essie Lee Martin, 82, of Marion, Alabama died April 27, 2008 in Boligee, Alabama.

Final arrangements will be announced at a later date by Miller Funeral Service.

Noreen A. Feuerstein

Noreen A. Feuerstein, 80, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, in Tallahassee, Fla.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to Winter Park, Fla., in 1971 before relocating to Tallahassee in 2002.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

EDT Sunday, April 20, at Culley&8217;s MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road Chapel (850-877-8191).

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. EDT Monday, April 21, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, with burial at Culley&8217;s MeadowWood Memorial Park.

Noreen was a loving wife of 61 years and a devoted mother who taught her children the importance of a moral and spiritual life. She gave her family the finest example of commitment, caring and sacrifice. She taught her children to compete with zeal and honor.

She is survived by her loving husband, Lee, and her seven children, Lee Anne Schneider of Tallahassee, Robert Feuerstein of Richmond, Va., Karen Poulsen of Atlanta, Ga., Gale Mallan of Casselberry, Fla., Thomas Feuerstein of Leesburg, Fla., Lauren Obracay of Atlanta, Michelle Wagner of Atlanta, and their spouses.

She has 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Therese Blasko and Mary Marton; and three brothers, Thomas Nero, Nicholas Nero and Charles Nero. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Nicholas Nero, and a brother, William Nero.

Rev. Dr. J. C. Summers

Rev. Dr. J. C. Summers, 82, of Selma, AL, died April 24, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his children.

A memorial service will be Thursday, May 1 at 6 p.m. at Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Selma, where Rev. E. J.

Marshall is pastor.

The funeral will be Saturday, May 3 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 213 Martin Luther King Ave. in Prichard, AL, where Rev. Walter Bracy is pastor.

Rev. J.D. Haston will officiate. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, AL, under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.

He was pastor of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Prichard for 26 years and True Light Missionary Baptist Church in Millry, AL for seven years.

He retired from the ministry as pastor of Greater St.

Paul Missionary Baptist Church in 2006 after nine years of service. He served as past moderator for the Uniontown District Association, past treasurer for the Selma Ministerial Alliance, and past moderator for the Fellowship of the West Churches of Selma.

After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy.

He served during the Korean Conflict. He received an honorable discharge in 1946. After that, he worked on the Alabama State Docks in Mobile for more than 30 years, retiring as a supervisor.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Johnnie Mae Summers. He leaves to cherish his memory nine loving and devoted children: Gerome (Vinona) Summers, Chicago, IL;

Johnny (Minnie) Summers and Mitchell (Corliss) Summers, both of Peoria, IL; Janet (Billy) Swopes, Mobile, AL; Nan (Richard) Curtis, Sherri (Ollie) James, Veronica (Edgar) Brown, Karol (Tim) Purdie and Tanya (Leroy) Miles, all of Selma, AL; one brother, William (Bertha) Summers, Pittsburgh, PA; three sisters-in-law, Ledora Summers, Prichard, AL; Barbara Johnson, State Line, Ms; Shirley Wimbush, Albany, NY; two brothers-in-law,

Hunter Ben (Ruby) Nelson, McIntosh, AL, and Arthur (Carolyn) Nelson, Quitman, MS; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Also, to cherish his memory he leaves behind special caregivers: Alice Thomas, Alfred Irby, Billie Rose Cosby, Re&8217;Jean Roland, and Geraldine Adams.

Rosie Shannon, 71, of Selma, AL died April 29, 2008, at a local hospital.

Woodrow Bonner, 89, of Pineapple, AL died April 28, 2008 at a local hospital.
