Mayor James Perkins Jr. honored the girls on the team Monday night at the Selma City Council meeting, calling the achievement an “extraordinary accomplishment.”

The parade will begin at 4 p.m. at the Genesis School of Discovery and march down Broad Street from Dallas Avenue to Selma High School.

The team from the Selma-based college won the tournament on March 1 in Broken Arrow, Okla.

Selma High School graduate Santana Seay earned MVP honors during the tournament. She scored 29 points and pulled in eight rebounds during the final game.

Concordia hit 51.1 percent from the field for the game and held Philander Smith to 35 percent shooting from the floor.

Two players from Concordia, Seay and Deshawn Butler, made the 2008 USCAA All-Tournament Team.
