Gladys Rowell Humphries

Gladys Rowell Humphries, age 66, a resident of Bessemer, AL, passed away April 24, 2008.

She is survived by her son, Brad Humphries of Bessemer, AL; daughter, Kimble Lee Teer of Ocean Springs, MS; brother, Ricky Rowell of Selma, AL; sisters, Bonnie Buster of Selma, AL and Marlyne Rowell Mulry of Pensacola, FL.

Ms. Humphries was a retired Social Worker for the State Department in Bessemer, AL.

She graduated from A.G. Parrish High School and the University of Montevallo.

A private family and close friends graveside service will be held at Carlowville Baptist Church Cemetery on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be Harry Myers, Reid Buster, Jeff Agan, Sol Tepper, Donny Harris and Bobby Rowell.

Linda Charlene West Hamilton, 55, a resident of Selma passed April 23, 2008. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday April 28, 2008 at 1 p.m. from Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Carroll Plourde officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Garden directed by J. H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home.

Charlene was preceded in death by her husband Joe &8220;Billy&8221; Hamilton; father, Lonzy West, Sr. and sister Rose Diane West Jones.

She is survived by a loving mother Ms. Alice Martin West of Selma; sons, Bradley West Sr. of Selma and Jonathan West of Minneapolis, MN; sisters, Nella (Donnie) Walker of Chattanooga, TN, Alice (Harry) Wooten, Juliette Smith, Rachel (Aaron) Milhouse, Lydia Christine &8220;Bonnie&8221; West (Lorenzo), all of Selma, Rolonza West and Monique Baulett of Chicago, IL; brothers, Lonzy (Eileen) West, Jr. of Toledo, OH, Carl (Florence) West, Sr., Roderick (Dorita) West, Sr., Mark West, Sr. all of Selma and Anthony West of Chicago, IL; sisters-in-law Gwendolyn Jackson and Shirley (Jerry) Mahan of Selma, Willie Nell Dixon and Ruby Nell Walters of Selma; brother-in-law James (Cecilia) Mitchell; cherished granddaughters, Jakesa Thrash of Selma, Taytianna of Minnesota, Braila & Kristen of Chicago; grandsons Bradley Jr., Parrish & Deangelo; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mary L. Montgomery, 84, of Selma, AL died April 24, 2008, at 45 County Road 882 in Selma, AL.

Services are scheduled for April 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Big Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jessie Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery under the direction of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home Inc.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Minnie Grimes; daughters, Dorothy Moss, DeLoves Hollman, Betty Tolver, and Emma Muhammad; and brothers, A.C.

Grimes and Y.C. Grimes.

Survivors include spouse, Frank Montgomery; four sons, Willie Grimes, Frank Montgomery, Jesse (Edna) Montgomery and Ervin Montgomery; four daughters, Martha (Ardie) Lee, Bertha Ambrose, Rev. Patricia (Rev. Joseph) Howard, and Sarah (Sylvester) Taylor; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Calley and Mable Grimes; and one son-in-law, Kalim Muhammad.

Pallbearers will include her sons and grandsons.

Other relatives include twenty-nine grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
