The residents in Ward 6 want to see change in their neighborhood.

They want dilapidated houses torn down, less crime, more jobs, less litter, one voting place for every election and to see Selma move forward.

Mitchell moved back to Selma to care for his mother after serving in the military and living in Atlanta for 15 years.

Mitchell was one of roughly 25 constituents who let their voices be heard at a ward meeting at Bethelham Baptist Church on Thursday.

Major James Perkins Jr. led the meeting in Selma City Councilman&8217;s Johnnie Leashore&8217;s ward. He explained his &8220;plan B&8221; for the city, citing that the failed $12.3 million bond issue was &8220;plan A.&8221;

The Selma City Council is reviewing three proposals submitted by Perkins regarding some items in the failed bond issue.

One resolution calls for $250,000 from the State Gasoline Excise Tax Fund to purchase equipment for street pavement, gutters, sidewalks and curbing for the public works department.

Another resolution called for $742,077 in additional equipment and training for the Selma Police Department.

The third resolution called for the purchase of software from New World Systems to upgrade the city&8217;s financial software from the city&8217;s unrestricted fund balance, which came to $355,850.

Ward 6 resident Denise Moore addressed the citizens&8217; complaints regarding the city&8217;s leadership.
