Carmelo J. Reed

Carmelo J. Reed, infant of Sprott, Alabama died April 15, 2008 at the Children’s Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 18, 11:00 a.m. at Old Oak Grove Baptist Church under the direction of Miller Funeral Services.

Survivors include parents Sierra Suttles and Calvin Reed; grandparents, Fanninet and Samuel Suttles, Mark and Frances Reed; great-grandmother Bernice Jackson; uncles LaMark Reed, John (Melissa) Morton, and Jermone Jackson; aunts Latisha Jackson, Samatha Suttles, Kissy and Charmine Albritton; great aunt Teresa Jackson; and a host of cousins and friends.

Kenneth Earl Burden

Kenneth Earl Burden, 40, a resident of Selma, passed April 12, 2008. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from Wayman Chapel AME church. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery under the direction of J. H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home.

George Kent Wayne Carrington, Jr.

died Tuesday, April 15, 2008. George Carrington was born December 31, 1926 in Selma, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Mittie Carrington. Also preceding were his brother William Carrington, sister Velma Broils, and son James Carrington. Mr. Carrington leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Mildred Carrington; sons, Kent Carrington, Detroit, Michigan, Kirk (Gwen) Carrington, Selma, Alabama, D’Jango (Michelle) Carrington, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tony (Wanda) Carrington, Davie, Florida; daughters, Ethel (Harold) Archibald, Las Vegas, Nevada, Pamela (Bruce) Bostick, Riverdale, Georgia, Chanette (Curtis) Thompson, Stone Mountain, Georgia, Yma Carrington, Montgomery, Alabama; brother, Tommy Lee Carrington; a devoted caretaker, Greg Olds; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an elder in the central congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 2910 Earl Goodman Parkway Selma, Alabama.
