The Dallas County softball team managed to win a close game Thursday afternoon, taking down Thorsby 3-0.

The Lady Hornets opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Albertina Miller led off the bottom of the inning with a single. Whitney Denson advanced her to second on a sacrifice bunt, and Miller then scored on a single by Keneasha Jefferson.

The score remained 1-0 as Cassie Daniels battled away on the mound for most of the ball game.

In the bottom of the sixth, Denson led off with a single to left followed by a towering home run by Jefferson over the left field fence to push the score to 3-0. It was Jefferson’s third home run of the season.

Miller and Jefferson led the Hornets at the plate with two hits apiece, followed by one hit each by Denson, Daniels, Kimberly Ross, Avery Mott and Tiffany Ellis.

Daniels picked up the win on the mound while allowing two hits and striking out nine batters.
