Two men accused of resisting arrest and other charges more than a year ago may finally have their day in court.

Walter Hollman Jr., 61, and his grandson, Kourtney Gordon, 20, are expected today in Selma Municipal Court to face charges stemming from an attempted traffic stop by Selma police officer Jason Whitt on March 16, 2007.

“The police officer didn’t show up two weeks ago,” said Faya Rose Toure, attorney for the two men. “The case was continued.”

This is not the first time the hearing has been continued. The hearing was delayed for the first time this year in February.

Hollman is charged with disorderly conduct. Gordon is charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The men were arrested at Hollman&8217;s home on West Drive.

The two men and their families have said officers used pepper spray and shoved the suspects to the ground. Hollman and Gordon alleged the officers used excessive force. The Alabama Bureau of Investigation looked into the allegations.

Whitt is no longer with the police department. He has declined to say why.

The family of Gordon and Hollman have said Gordon’s name was forged on a ticket to pave the way for police officers to come on their property and arrest Gordon. Neither the officers nor the city have responded to the accusation.
