At Carter&8217;s, a black wreath hangs in front of the drugstore, and inside Carter&8217;s coworkers and friends are fighting back tears as they work.

Carter worked for the drugstore delivering medicine. He delivered three or four loads a day at times, which totaled more than 75 deliveries. Carter was retired and had started delivering around September of 2001.

Murray said Carter was a gentle, kind man who knew his customers&8217; pets and tailored the way he delivered the medicines to their needs and preferences.

A memorial visitation for friends and family of Carter will be held from 11 a.m. until noon Wednesday in the Calhoun Parlor at Church Street United Methodist Church.
