Darryl Moore has announced his candidacy for County Commission District 3.

Moore, 42, currently works as a code enforcement officer for the city of Selma and has worked with city government since 1996.

His objectives in running for office include building a strong working relationship between city and county government, increasing recreation outlets for youth, improving healthcare, roads, and housing for low income and elderly in the district, and supporting programs that reduce crime.

Moore believes a strong, cohesive government is an effective government.

Moore has lived in Dallas County since 1984.

He is a graduate of Greensboro Public School East in Greensboro and received a bachelor’s degree from Selma University.

Moore is an alumnus of Leadership Selma-Dallas County and a member of the Selma and Dallas County Ministerial Conference, Alabama Missionary State Convention Publishing Board, National Baptist Convention, and Uniontown District Association, among other organizations. He is secretary of New Shady Grove District Association and a member of Masonic Lodge 1674 in Greensboro.

Moore was listed among the Outstanding Young Men in America and the Who’s Who Among American College Students.

He has received a Best Pastor Award, Dekalb Agriculture Award, and is a Pastor of the Year nominee.

Moore serves as pastor of Second Baptist Church, 2809 Hardie Ave.

He is married to the former Iris Craig of Selma and has one son, Darrius, and one daughter, Irishia.
