Anita Shields Hill

Anita Shields Hill, age 77, a resident of Selma, AL, passed away March 23, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Hill, Sr.

Surviving are her sons, Cecil Hill, Jr. (Scooter) and David Gandmason; daughters, Julie Dalton of Vancouver, WA and Charlotte Mahan of Selma, AL; brother, Willie L. Shields of Selma, AL; grandchildren, Kayla Hill, Billy, Chris, and Dion Mahan, Nicholas Harris, Robert and Isaac Dalton and Cecil J. Hill; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Mahan, Trey A. Mahan and Deanna Mahan.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.

Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing.

Robert &8220;Bob&8221; Loftin, Jr.

Florence &8212; Robert Noel &8220;Bob&8221; Loftin, Jr. 78, died Friday March 21, 2008 at his residence following a 10-year battle with cancer.

Visitation was Sunday 5-8 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence with services at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with burial in the Garden of Memories at Florence.

Mr. Loftin was born in Vicksburg, a son of the late Robert Noel, Sr. and Mary Marshall Loftin.

Bob was a retired production manager in the furniture manufacturing industry, and he was an avid sports fan who loved the outdoors. His favorite college team was the Alabama Crimson Tide.

He dearly loved his family and life itself. He was a U. S.

Army Veteran, and he attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Mr. Loftin was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Pat Loftin of Florence.

Sons and their wives, Bill (Cindy) Loftin, George (Cindy) Loftin, Don (Cindy) Loftin all of Florence and Wayne (Beth) Mitchell of Truman, AR.

Daughters and their husbands, Cathy Loftin (Leon) Crain and Ouida Loftin Smith all of Florence, Talonda Mitchell of Birmingham, AL, Shonna (Craig) Sims of Murfreesboro, TN, Renee Knight of Canton, MS. Sister, Betty Lou Cummins of Vicksburg, MS, 16 Grandchildren and 20 Great-Grand-children.

William Cobb

Cobb, William A., 1SGT, US Army, Ret., 76, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2008.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Leak-Memory Chapel with Rev. Gary Burton and Bro. Malcolm Wade officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with Full Military Honors.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Leak-Memory Chapel.

Mr. Cobb was born in Selma, AL and attended Dallas County Schools, and completed an Associate of Arts degree from Wallace Community College.

He was a member of Eastmont Baptist Church and former member and Deacon of Pintlala Baptist Church.

He also was a member of the Montgomery Metro Exchange Club for 20 years, serving as President for 2 terms.

Mr. Cobb retired from the U.S. Army in 1970 and from the State of Alabama Department of Corrections in 1995.

During his distinguished military career, Bill served with the Occupational Forces in Japan, serving as a courier for General MacArthur.

He was also a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War.

Mr. Cobb was preceded in death by his parents, William C. Cobb and Velma Roebuck Cobb Gray; son, Ronald L. Cobb; daughter, Denise L. Cobb; brother, William Lloyd Cobb; and sister, Louvine C. Harris.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Ann Cobb of Montgomery; daughters and sons-in-law, Karlene (Luke) C. Tharpe of Skipperville, AL, Sharon (James) C. Davis of Montgomery, stepdaughter, Cindy (Wayne) W.

Porterfield of Montgomery; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen D.

(Patricia) Cobb of Fayettville, N.C., Kenneth C. (Kay) Cobb of Ozark, David L. (Jodi) Cobb of Ozark, Dennis L. (Dawn) Cobb of Headland, T. Kelly Cobb of Ozark; step-son, Kenny Wicks of Pelham; daughter-in-law, Jackie E. Cobb of Hendersonville, NC; sister, Vie C. Overstreet of Selma; twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Cobb&8217;s sons and oldest grandson, Stephen Cobb, Kenneth Cobb, David Cobb, Dennis Cobb, Kelly Cobb, Kenny Wicks, and J. Denver Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Justin Cobb, Jessie Kellum, Aaron Pollack, Karl Pollack, and Bobby Porterfield.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Leta Vest, Bertha Roberson, and the caregivers from Vista Care Hospice for their dedicated care and compassion given to Mr. Cobb.

A special thanks would also like to be given to the Frazer Alzheimer&8217;s Daycare and Support group.

Keith Moseley, 67, of Tusacloosa, AL died Monday, March 24, 2008 at Northport DCH.

Services are scheduled for 2 pm, Wednesday March 26, 2008 at Magnolia Chapel South with Brother Timothy (Tim) Davis officiating. Burial will follow in St. Andrews cemetery, Gallion, AL under the directing of Magnolia Chapel South Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Louise Moseley.

Survivors include one son Brian Keith Moseley of Tuscaloosa; four sisters, Jean (Jim) Burch, Myrtice Moseley, Dianne (Norman) Green and Brenda (Mike) LeBlanc; three nieces and four nephews.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Melton, Gwinn Etheridge, Walter Edwards, Al Miller, Rodney Etheridge, Jerry Rogers and Gary Blaylock.

Honorary Pallbearers will be B.F. Goodrich employees and retirees, Disabled Veterans- Chapter 1, Tuscaloosa, AL, Demopolis High School, Class of 1958 and Oak Mulgee Domino Club.

In Lieu of flowers, donations be made to Disabled Veterans-Chapter 1, Tuscaloosa, AL, or Cancer Society.

Marion Barr Jackson Lee

Marion Barr Jackson Lee, 82 died peacefully at her home following a prolonged illness on Monday March 24, 2008.
