As part of next week&8217;s festivities at the National Voting Rights Museum, an updated women&8217;s suffrage room will be unveiled at next week&8217;s Jubilee.

Progress is underway at the museum to prepare for the switch, which will include more photos and detailing, according to Sam Walker, who works with the museum.

Walker called a press conference Friday to give updates on next week&8217;s event.

The women&8217;s suffrage room at the museum is a tribute to the women who led and sustained efforts to obtain equal rights for minority citizens, and who participated in the civil rights movement.

Walker also announced that Bernard Lafayette, noted civil rights activist

and promoter of non-violence who was beaten and jailed during the civil rights movement, will be in Selma on Thursday to speak with youth on the benefits of non-violence.

Youth who participate in the non-violence program will be marshals during the Jubilee parade and will receive decorated jackets.
