Gerald Wang, newly appointed CEO for the YMCA of Selma-Dallas County at 1 YMCA Drive, cares about people.

Wang has more than 20 years experience working with the YMCA.

He said the YMCA embodies everything he has ever dreamed of in a job. &8220;It fulfills all of my dreams and goals, everything,&8221; Wang said.

Wang&8217;s experience with the YMCA began in New Orleans at the age of 12. Wang said a friend took him to the Lee Circle branch of the YMCA in downtown New Orleans, where he was taken under the wings of a physical director and became a youth leader.

Wang said one of his goals is to meet everybody in Selma. At the YMCA, Wang said on the staff&8217;s goals is to know everyone who comes in by name.

Wang said that is part of the mission of the YMCA, which reflects the values of care, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
