The issue: On Wednesday, the United Way of Selma-Dallas County honored its sponsors.

The United Way of Selma-Dallas County held a luncheon Wednesday to thank its corporate sponsors.

Jeff Cothran, director of the organization, also announced that the United Way met its goal of $390,000.

One of the driving forces behind this year&8217;s success was Carver Boynton, the Selma Mall manager. She served as chairwoman of the board of directors for two years.

Under her leadership, United Way began its Day of Caring, during which corporate sponsors teamed with United Way agencies for a day of volunteerism.
