Vivian Harris Glass

Vivian Harris Glass, age 87, a native of Selma,

AL, and resident of Houma, LA, died Thursday Feb. 14, 2008, in Houma, LA.

Funeral Services will be at 10

a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home officiated by Robert Small with burial to follow at New Live Oak Cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters, Christine Glass Erickson and husband Jerry of Houma, LA, and Sonja Glass Terrell and husband Ray Terrell of League City, TX, five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one brother, H. L. &8220;Bit&8221; Harris, and his wife Geneva &8220;Tug&8221; Harris and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Glass, parents, Selma Hoots Harris and Hobson Harris, two brothers, Robbie Lee Harris and Claude H Harris, one sister, Velma C. Harris.

She loved people and had many dear friends and family who will miss her greatly. Mrs. Glass was one of Jehovah&8217;s witnesses.

Pallbearers will be great grandsons and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.

Ethel Williams

Ethel Williams, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be announced at a later date by

Dock Columbus Bullard

Dock Columbus Bullard was born July 11, 1947 in Selma, Alabama to Willie Mae Burke and the late David Bullard.

He departed this life on Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at the Valley View Professional Care Center in Junction City, Kansas. Dock was united in marriage to Bernice Wills on September 5, 1970 in Selma, Alabama.

To this union one beautiful and dutiful daughter was born, Stephanie Michelle. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 26, 2008, at Second Missionary Baptist Church, Junction City, Kansas with Dr. Leonard F. Gray officiating.

Brenda Blake Kelly

Brenda Blake Kelly, 49, died Feb 10, 2008 at home.

Funeral services will be held Feb 16, 2008 at 12 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, Potter Station, Rev. Dan Moore officiating.

Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. directing.

Sara Nell Bennett Redd

Sara Nell Bennett Redd, age 66 of Summerdale, AL passed away February 5, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Redd; mother, Emma Belle Bennett and two brothers, Leonard and Eugene L. Bennett.

Mrs. Redd is survived by her father, William G. Bennett and four children Joseph Redd, Deborah Bailey, Kimberly Hasty and Tina Monroe; 13 brothers and sisters, Edna (John ) Driver, Janet (Howell) Stone, Julia (Carol) Hughey, William Bennett, Jr., Shirley (Robert) Stone, Franklin Bennett, Billy (Dorothy) Bennett, Burnice (Richard) Turner, Robert Bennett, Brenda (Gene) Hisel, Connie (Jackie) Phillips, Johnny (Ann) Bennett, and Joe Bennett; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Thursday, February 7 from 6-8 p.m. at Wolfe Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, AL.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 8, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home. With interment in Wynn Cemetery, Summerdale, AL.

Nathaniel Riddle, 79, resident of Orrville, AL. died Feb. 15, 2008 at Vaughan Regional.

Gerald Cecil Thomas, Sr., 54, resident of Montgomery, AL died Feb. 13, 2008, at Baptist Medical Center South.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Fresh Anointing House of Worship. Officiated by Fred Adetungi.

Burial will be in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, AL.

Directed by Miller Funeral Service, Inc. Survivors include spouse, Phillis Annette Thomas; parent, Solomon L. Byrd; 5 sons, Gerald C. Thomas, II (Catherine Thomas), Wesley J. Thomas, Kenneth Byrd, Marcus Gullatte, Jerome Byrd; 2 daughters, Leigh Ann Thomas, Annette Byrd; 2 brothers, Eddie Lamar Thomas, Kenneth Thomas, preceded in death by Wesley Thomas, John Arthur Thomas; 3 sisters, Barbara Adams, Alice Cornette, Cassandra Kirk; 1 daughter- in-law.

And a host of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by Alice &8220;Punch&8221; Thomas.

Clarice Elizabeth Henderson, age 88, a resident of Orrville, AL, passed away February 15, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Henderson and daughter-in-law, Randalyn Henderson.

Surviving are her husband, Carl J. Henderson; son, James Carl (Gene) Henderson; daughter, Lallage (James) Pruitt; daughter-in-law, Lee Anne Henderson; grandchildren, David (Janine) Henderson, Allen (Kerry) Henderson, Vicky (Bill) Dixon, Todd Pruitt, Kevin Pruitt, Jess (Megan) Henderson and Claire (Kendall) Gibbs and great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Connor and Taylor Henderson, Jackson, Gunnar and Cade Henderson, William, Grant, and Bailey Dixon, Chase Pruitt and Mackenzie Henderson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Orrville Baptist Church with Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. officiating.

Visitation will be at the church Tuesday, from 12-1:00 p.m.

Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers will be David Henderson, Allen Henderson, Bill Dixon, Todd Pruitt, Kevin Pruitt, Jess Henderson and alternate, Kendall Gibbs.

Julia Belle Smith Jatko, age 86, of Selma died Thursday February 14, 2008 in a local nursing home. She was a beloved wife to her husband, Bill for 60 years and a loving mother to her son, Bruce and daughter Debra. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday February 18, 2008 in Orrville Cemetery officiated by Aaron Ellis and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

She was born on June 20, 1921 in Moundville, Alabama. Her parents were William Thomas Smith and Ola Berniece Griffin Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Albert W. &8220;Bill&8221; Jatko of Selma, son, William Bruce (Beverly) Jatko of Knoxville, TN, daughter, Debra Jatko (Jerry) Bender of Selma, grandchildren, Stacey Jatko (Tom) Hunt of Boise, ID, Brandon Jatko of Knoxville, TN, Jerry Paul (Kristy) Bender of Amman, Jordan, Austin (Deidra) Bender of McCalla, AL, great grandchildren, Tanner Bender, Mary Katharine Bender, and Preston Bender. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Benjamin Smith (Mary Ellen) of Tuscaloosa, Al Smith (Sherry) of Dunellen, FL, Thomas Smith (Billie) of Dallas, TX, and Marie Adams (Harry) of Montgomery.

Pallbearers will be Hershel Kendrick, David Brown, Steve Phillips, Timothy King, Lee Bender Jr., and Austin Bender.

Family members and friends of the family are invited to visit after the services at the home of Jerry and Debra Bender.

Dera Faye Lolley Lafata

Dera Faye Lolley Lafata, age 72, passed away February 15, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Dera Lolley and three brothers, Melvin, Ernest and Raymond Lolley.

Dera is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joseph S. Lafata, of Selma, AL; daughter, Roseann L. Crowe of Selma, AL; son David W. Lafata of Quitman, MS; sister, Coleman Rainey of Selma, AL; grandchildren, Stephanie Arnold, Eric Arnold, Blake Crowe and Heather Crowe all of Selma, AL; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. officiating.

Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, February 17, 2008 from 6-8:00 p.m.

Dera was a faithful member of Valley Grande Baptist Church and Gwen Dooling&8217;s Sunday School Class.

She will be missed by all who knew her.
