Funeral services are scheduled for Sat. Feb. 23, 2008 at 12:00 at First Baptist Church and officiated by Rev. Dwight Woods.

Mrs. Inez F. Carter, 77 of 302 West LaFayette ST., Marion, AL, died February 18, 2008 at the Vaughan Medical Center, Selma, AL.

Funeral services will be Sat. Feb. 23, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Marion Baptist Academy, Marion AL. with the Rev. J.L. Curry officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Tabo Cemetery, Marion, AL.

Sarah Cheese, 97, resident of Orrville, AL died Feb. 17, 2008 at UAB Hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sat. Feb. 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Rising Star Baptist Church and officiated by Rev.

Eugene Bennett.

Burial will be in the church cemetery and directed by Miller Funeral Service, Inc.

Minnie Gilcreast

Minnie Gilcreast, 96, of Sardis, AL died Feb., 14, 2008 at Vaughan Regional Hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sat. Feb. 23, 2008 at 11:00 at Camp Creek Baptist Church and officiated by Rev. Roy McQueen.

Burial will be in the church cemetery and directed by Miller Funeral Service, Inc.

Wayne Hume Hockhalter

Wayne Hume Hockhalter, 64, died Tuesday, February 19, 2008.

Graveside services were held Thursday, February 21, 2008 at New Live Oak.

He is survived by his daughter, Carrie (John) Clark and granddaughter, Marina Clark.

Dolly &8216;Dot&8217; Johnson

Dolly &8216;Dot&8217; Johnson, 84, of Selma, died Thursday February 21, 2008 in a Camden nursing home.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 23, 2008 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Henry, Mr. Ralph Derryberry, and Dr. George Washburn officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home direct-ing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hugh Johnson Sr. and grandson, William Forrest Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son, William Hugh (Mandy) Johnson Jr. of Camden, daughters, Donna J. (Steve) Tidwell of Selma, Tina J. (Tod) Echler of Louisville, KY, grandchildren, Amanda Johnson Bell of Camden, Angie Washburn of Clanton, Patrick Washburn of Selma, Ame (Robert) Blackmon of Selma, Jodi Johnson (Paul) Hansell of Auburn, great-grandchildren, Taylor Johnson, Lange Johnson, Reese Hansell, all of Auburn, Mary Forrest Bell of Camden, and Zackary Blackmon of Selma.

Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Honorary pallbear-ers are Elks brothers, James Tennimon, and Emblem Club ladies.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Louise H. Riddle

Mrs. Louise H. Riddle, &8220;Byrd&8221; 60, resident of Safford, AL died February 19, 2008 at home at approximately 1:50 a.m.

Funeral services will be February 23, 2008 at 1: p.m.

at Concord Baptist Church, Safford, AL.

The body will lie in wait from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will be officiated by Eld. Clarence J. Pettway.

Burial will be in the church yard and will be directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Riddle is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Mary Lee Harris.

Survived by her spouse, Alfred Riddle, Jr. of Orrville, AL;

three sons, Carter Riddle, Nathaniel Riddle, Tyrone Riddle; two daughters, Artcola Pettway and Claudia Riddle; and a devoted niece Rebecca (Tyrone) Carter.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Nathaniel Riddle, 79, of Orrville, AL died Feb. 15, 2008 at Vaughan Regional.

Services are scheduled for Sat., Feb. 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.

at New Bethel Baptist Church, Orrville, AL

and officiated by Rev.

Curtis Williams.

Burial will be in Rocky Branch cemetery and directed by Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include spouse, Judge Maggie Drake-Riddle,

one son, Michael Charles Drake, Belleville, Michigan&8217; four daughters, Dorsae Riddle, Houston, TX, Hoyland Jamison, Maria Glover both of Milwaukee, Wisc. and Alanda Riddle, of Romeoville, IL; three brothers, Jinks Riddle, Chicago, IL, Earnest (Gracie) Riddle and A.J. Riddle both of Orrville, AL; two sisters Ollie Smothers, Chicago Ill and Marion Riddle, Detroit, MI; twenty grandchildren; seven great grandchildren&8217; seven brothers-in-law;

two sisters-in law.

Ray Williams, John Solomon, and Wayne Spahr.

Helen Rose Varner Roberson

Helen Rose Varner Roberson, a resident of Selma, passed Feb. 17, 2008 at her home.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday Feb. 23, 2008 at 12 noon from Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Fr.

Carroll Plourde officiating.

Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.

Helen was born August 21, 1941 in Selma, AL to the late Levi, Sr. and Frankie Mae Golston Varner.

She

attended ST.

Elizabeth Elem. School and graduated from R. B. Hudson High.

She was a member of Our lady Queen of peach Catholic Church (St. Elizabeth) where she remained a faithful member until her death.

She was married to the later Robert Roberson of Birmingham and to this union 7 children were born.

Helen is survived by 3 sons; Roderick E.

Roberson, Cleveland, OH, Randy

V. Roberson and Michael L. Roberson of San Diego, CA; 3 daughters;

Angela G. (Brian) Wilson, Suffolk, VA, Erika M. Roberson of Selma, Jennifer L. Square of Huntsville,

AL; 3 brothers, Levi C (Betty) Varner, Jr. and Leon W. (Martha) Varner of Selma, Edward (Maxine) Varner of Chicago, IL; a sister Mary Ann Johnson of Birmingham; an uncle Robert McMillan of Chicago, IL; 2 aunts Louise Young and Mildred Ridgeway both of Cleveland, OH; six grandchildren, Brian, Joshilyn, Brehonna, Aaron, Sha-nieya and KeArron; a special sister-in-law Mary L Varner of Selma; a special friend, Rembert Eddie Williams of Albert, AL; a special cousin Hattie Gill of We-tumpka, AL plus many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by both parents, a daughter Lisa B. Roberson and grandson Karlos A. Roberson.

Linda Richardson Shine

Linda Richardson Shine, 46, of Selma, AL departed this life on Monday, February 18, 2008 at Vaughan Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2008, 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive #2 Missionary Baptist Church pastor Carlton Phillips officiating and Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Sarah Small

Sarah Cole Dale Small was born on June 20, 1911 in Wilcox County, AL and passed away on February 20, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her son, Julius Allan Small and husband, Allan Breithaupt Small.

She is survived by her sister, Claire Hutcheson, of Selma, daughter, Barbara Davis, son-in-law Charles Davis, grandsons and their wives, Craig (Debra), Charles, and Christopher (Anne) Davis, great-grandchildren, Lauren, Naomi, Nathan, and Andrew Davis, all of Texas.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Sanctuary on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 10:00 AM followed by a graveside service at the New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Lee Tate officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Christian Aid Mission P.O. Box 9037 Charlottesville, VA 22906.

Ethel P. Williams

Ethel P. Williams, 87, of Selma, Alabama, died February 14, 2008 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, Alabama.

Mrs. Williams was born in Dallas County, AL on February 15, 1920 to the late Wesley and Ellis Johnson.

Funeral Services will be held at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, February 23, 2008, at 1:00 p.m.

The Reverend Joshua Davis will be officiating.

Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 22, 2008, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memories, four sons:

Emmitte Williams, Ralph (Adondra) Williams, Sr., and Liddell (Cynthia) Williams all of Selma, AL;

Mack (Helena) Williams, Jr., Birmingham, AL; five daughters:

Leola (Thomas) Stewart of Tuskegee, AL;

Ethel Mae Harris, Mary (Louis) Adkins, Gloria (Robert) Mahan and

Brenda (Floyd) Hatcher all of Selma, AL.

Precious and dear to her were thirty grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
