Lady Saints advance, boys staying home

The Selma girls’ basketball team remained undefeated Friday and advanced to the Central Regional tournament in Montgomery with a 53-43 win over Robert E. Lee.

Lee (19-9) tried to play keepaway early, but Selma (30-0) applied pressure and led by as much as 15.

The Selma boys (21-6) shot 7-for-17 from the free-throw line and made a critical turnover with seconds on the clock.

Henery Timmons hit a free throw for the Generals (13-14) that iced the game.
