Helen Josephine (Jean) Davis, 90, of Marion,

Alabama died Feb. 9, 2008 at Perry County Nursing Home in Marion, Alabama.

Mrs. Davis was born Sept.. 19, 1917 in Sevierville, TN.

She

was born to Thomas Adason and Blanche Massey Wood.

She was employed by Perry County Department of Pesions and Securities.

Funeral services will be held at Marion United Methodist Church on Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at 11 a.m.

The Reverend James Waters, Jr., will

officiate.

Burial will be in Maron Cemetery. Kirk Funeral Homes Directing.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Marion United Methodist Church Chapel.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Walter S. Davis; her parents and a sister, Catherine Rogers Wood; 2 brothers, Thomas Adamson Wood, Jr., and Charles L. Wood.

Survivors include nieces, Carolyn Wood Larsen of Conifer, CO; Nancy Wood Mitchell of Birmingham; Katherine Wood of Wilmington, Delaware; Lucy Davis of Goldsboro, NC; Mary Anna Davis of Cleveland, MS; Dorothy Davis Hollingsworth of Johnstown PA; and Rhoda Green Watkins of Birmingham, AL; nephews Charles L. Wood of Atlanta;, David Wood of Huntsville; Thomas Wood of Wilmington Delaware, John Wood of Cleveland, Ohio; and Earl Wood of Davenport, IA.

Three sisters-in-law, Jean

Woodfin Wood of Huntsville; Mardelle Wood of Wilmington, Delaware; and Lucie Davis Ellard of Birmingham, AL.

Mrs. Davis was married to her husband for 45 years. She was a member of the Marion United Methodist Church, a member of Triad and a member of DAR.

The family wishes to thank all

the staff of the Perry County Nursing Home, Southern Care Hospice and all the wonderful caregivers who have helped her over the years.

pallbearers will be David Wood, Charles L. Wood, Tom Wood, Earl Wood and Jim Mitchell.

Theodore Foster

Theodore Foster, 60, of Selma died February 8, 2008,

at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham,

AL.

Funeral services will be February 16, 2008, at 12:00 noon at Lewis Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Officiated by Rev. Ocie L. Acoff. Burial will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Foster was preceded in death by parents, Theodore and Mamie Foster and twin sister, Vivian Foster Huff.

Survivors include one son, Bryant Beal of Selma, AL, one daughter, Valerie Dudley of Austell, GA, 2 brothers, Edward Foster of High Point, NC and Derrick Stubbs of Selma, AL; 2 sisters Ovella (Robert) Crum and Rosetta (Ocie) Acoff of Selma, AL.; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be the class of 1965.

Laura M. Fair

Laura M. Fair, 94, resident of Selma, AL, died on Feb. 12, 2008, in Selma.

Graveside services will be Friday, Feb 15, 2008 at 11

a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery. Officiated by Rev. Dwight Woods.

Burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Directed by Walker Mortuary.

Cecil Lamar Dixon

Cecil Lamar Dixon, the youngest of six

sons, was born July

6, 1958, in Selma,

Alabama, to the late

Wilmon and Maggie Udell Black-Dixon.

He joined the West

Trinity Baptist

Church in Selma,

Alabama, at a very

early age.

During

his early childhood,

Cecil was reared by

his grandparents

James Black, Sr.

and Caroline (Callie)

McCord-Black in

Lowndes County,

Alabama.

Cecil attended schools in

both Lowndes

County and Dallas

County, Alabama.

After his graduation

from Southside High

School in Dallas

County, he moved to

Pritchett, Alabama

and lived with his father, Wilmon.

After

the death of his father, Cecil moved

back to Selma, Alabama.

Cecil departed this life on

Thursday, February 7, 2008.

His parents

Eloise Young, 91, a resident of Selma, AL,

1417 Cole St., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2008 at home.

Funeral arrangements are scheduled

at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008, at Miller Funeral Chapel, with Carl Billingsley officiating . Burial will be in New Bethel Baptist Church cemetery, directed by Miller Funeral Service, Inc.

Survivors include; one son, Willie (Ruby) Hasberry of Boston, Mass.; one daughter, Hannah (Edward) Grayson Sr.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren; one son-in-law; two daughters-in-law; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.

James Gaines, 57, of Minter, AL died Feb. 7, 2008, at a local hospital.

Funeral Services will be February 16, 2008, at 12 noon at Mount Nebo Baptist Church.Rev. Frank Miles will officiate.

Burial will be in Gaines Cemetery.

Mr. Gaines is survived by 2 brothers,Willie (Katherine) Wells and Zettie Gaines, both of Minter, AL; one nephew, Willie C. Wells; two great grand nieces Sharkeida and Shaterra Johnson.

Minnie Gilcreast, 96, of Sardis, AL died Feb., 14, 2008 at Vaughan Regional Hospital.

Ruth Juanita Hayes, age 89, a resident of Selma, AL, passed away February 13, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Hayes. Surviving are her sons, Ronald M. (Ruth) Roberts and Thomas S. (Lyndia)

(Randall, Jr.) Decker; grandchildren, Elizabeth Smith, Cranor Roberts, Chris Harris, Ann McLean, Matthew Roberts, Jonathan Roberts, Sarah Smith and Adam Smith and six great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be Sunday, February 17, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mrs. Hayes was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Selma Chapter 184 of Eastern Star.

Thomas M. Moss of Selma, Alabama departed this life on Monday, February 11, 2008.

He was born to the late Tom and Mattie Moss of Sardis, Alabama.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sadie Moss; two sons, Ronald (Emma) Mitchell of Atlanta, GA, Donald (Dianne) Mitchell of Madison, AL; one daughter Stephanie (Jeffery) Jordan of Atlanta, GA; four godsons

Mr. Moss was an educator in Selma City Schools for more than 35 years.

Frances Opal Wilson

Mrs. Frances Opal Wilson died Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at Covenant Health Rehab Convalescent Home in Vicksburg, MS. She was 87.

Graveside services will be held Monday February 18, 2008 at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, AL at 11:00 a.m. with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Born in Selma,

AL, Mrs. Wilson had been a resident of

Vicksburg for the past year.

She was a 1938 graduate of Selma High School where she was class poet. Mrs. Wilson was an accomplished gospel pianist from age 12 and had won many awards and ribbons for her paintings at the Dallas County Fair. She juried art shows in Montgomery, Marion, and Selma, Alabama. Mrs. Wilson served as secretary of the Ladies Club of

Waukegan, IL in 1975. She was a member of Saint Matthias Episcopal Church in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by two daughters, Penny Lee Freund of Tuscaloosa, AL, Linda Wilson Wall and her husband Eugene of Vicksburg, MS., a son, Edmond W. Wilson Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Searcy, AR. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Eugene S. Wall and his wife Kennette of Vicksburg, MS, Timothy J. Talluto of California, Stephanie Joy Wilson of Murfreesboro, TN, two great-grandchildren

Andrew Stewart Wall and Genna Sue Wall both of Vicksburg, MS, a

brother, Clyde C. Lee and

his wife Margie of Pensacola, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in

death by her husband, Edmond W. Wilson, her parents, Willis Wolden and Pearl Agnes Buxton Lee, and two brothers, Willis Lee Jr. and John L. Lee.
