Martin Middle School student wins spelling bee

Whitney Denson spelled &8220;semolina&8221; correctly Thursday and won a $1,500 savings bond.

A county-wide spelling bee was hosted by the Dallas County School System at the Selma Dallas County Public Library. Eighteen students participated.

Ashton Primm of Valley Grande Elementary won second place, and $1,000 savings bond.

D&8217;Angelo Stokes of Edgewood Elementary won third place and a $500 savings bond.

The savings bonds were provided by the Selma Kiwanis Club.
