After carefully considering all of the Republican candidates for President, I have decided to support Sen. John McCain.

Republicans have several great candidates with different talents and abilities running, but I believe in balance. McCain would be the best leader for the times our country faces now and in the future.

Most of my Republican friends and all of the few Democratic friends I have would probably classify my political philosophy as almost “radical” right-wing Christian conservative, with a bit of compassion for those in need.

So, I ask myself why the pundits are saying that McCain is having difficulty getting conservatives to vote for him.

They cite his role on tax cuts, immigration and campaign finance bills as reason to oppose him.

His qualified opposition to the tax cuts was based on wanting spending cuts to go along with the tax cuts.

In case anyone cares, America’s present obligations for Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security outlays are over $50 trillion in today’s dollars.

There is nothing wrong with being fiscally responsible.

I support tax and current spending cuts.

I very strenously disagreed with his position on immigration, believing our borders should be sealed before taking any further action

on legislation to address the problem of the 12 million illegals in the country at present.

At least he did take a leadership role in trying to address the problem and bring about change, even though he paid a politcal price for his position.

He did what he thought was right, and I admire that.

On campaign finance, hindsight shows that the legislation by McCain and Russ Feingold (D-Wisconsin) needs major corrections.

There is no question that campaign finance reform is needed.

The present system is rotten and needs radical surgery!

It is amazing that any law was passed.

Whether it is unification of our divided country, national security and defense, the economy, domestic or foreign relations, how to handle the “Silver Tsunami” coming with the huge wave of “Baby Boomers” getting ready to flood our nation’s social, economic and healthcare infrastructure;

John McCain has demonstrated to my satisfaction that he has the knowledge, experience and vision to lead America to greater heights of achievement.

He has served his country well and will continue to do so.

Please vote for McCain on Feb. 5 and in November.

Mike Huckabee&8217;s honor of MLK seems &8216;hypocritical&8217;

Dear editor,

Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, a former Baptist preacher, demonstrated his hypocrisy and lost the support of Bible-believing Christians, when he honored the unfaithful husband, Martin Luther King, in Atlanta.

King’s best friend, Ralph Abernathy, wrote that the night before he was killed, Martin Luther King cheated on his wife three different times with three different girlfriends.

According to Abernathy, King spent several hours with one girlfriend in the bedroom of her home, several more hours with a second girlfriend in a motel room, and then beat up a third girlfriend in his own motel room.

Just hours later, King was shot, as he stepped outside his motel room to talk to Jesse Jackson.

Abernathy&8217;s eyewitness account of King&8217;s last day on earth was recorded in his original 1989 hardback autobiography, &8220;And The Walls Came Tumbling Down&8221; (pages 433-441).

King fulfilled the Scripture, &8220;They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny God&8221; (Titus 1:16).

Huckabee fulfilled the Scriptures, &8220;He who justifies the wicked is an abomination to the Lord&8221; (Proverbs 17:15) and

&8220;Do not associate with any so-called brother, if he should be an immoral person&8221; (1Corinthians 5:11).
