Selma splits with Carver

MONTGOMERY – Selma guard Jakobe Shannon’s 15 points tied for the game high, but that still wasn’t enough to lift the Saints (15-4) past Carver Friday night.

Brandon Pettaway led the Wolverines with 15, and they went on to a 54-42 win.

Jesse Ware also scored 14 for Carver.

The Selma girls had a better run of things Friday.

Selma once again used its pressure defense to outrun its opponent and took a 76-64 win over Carver.

The win gave Selma (18-1) a 17-game winning streak, and they are undefeated in five area games this season.

Guard Keisha Moore led the Saints with 24 points, and Ashley Grimes scored 16.

DeAngela Sword led Carver with 31 points.

Selma opened up what was a four-point halftime lead by going on a 10-0 run to start the second half. The Saints led 50-36 at that point and never let the Wolverines back into the game.
