Attrition hit Central Christian hard recently, but not hard enough to knock the team off course.

The Warriors remained undefeated in area play with a 59-30 win over South Choctaw Academy on Friday night.

CCA (13-6, 3-0) had only one reserve, but pushed its fast-break offense and outran the Rebels all night.

Coach Carl Rawls emphatically stated to his players before the game that the best six players would win.

“We’ve had a few injuries, and some players quit the team,” Rawls said. “It was going to be a physical game, and we knew that. That’s why we played man-to-man defense. We’re 3-0 in the area, and we look good to host the area tournament again. We have two feet in the door of the state tournament, so that’s what we’re looking at.”

South Choctaw (5-9) fell behind by 12 in the first five minutes of the game and never caught back up.

The Warriors took a 14-2 lead with 3:08 to play in the first. Akeem Ghantt hit a 3-pointer with 2:03 left in the second, and CCA led 31-11. The Warriors ended the half ahead 44-23.

Ghantt led CCA with 20 points, followed by Bryant Rawls with 17.

Paul Glosson led the Rebels with 10 points.
