A couple of women accused by the federal government of theft of government funds have filed papers in U.S. District Court in Mobile that they want to plead guilty.

Judice Ann Carver, 315 Trot Lane, Selma, charged with receiving $6,022 in housing subsides from Jan. 1, 2004, until Feb. 28 2006, by filing false statements with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is set to appear in court at 9:30 a.m. in Mobile to plead guilty on one count of the indictment issued again her.

Jackie Eaton, 402 Birch Ave., Selma, charged with receiving $13, 404 in housing subsides from Feb. 1, 2004, until July 5, 2006, by filing false statements with HUD is expected to plead guilty at 8:30 a.m., Jan. 15 in Mobile.

Both women face up to 10 years in a federal prison, $250,000 in fines, three years supervised release and would pay a special assessment of $100 each.

Four other women were also accused as a result of a yearlong investigation by the FBI. Greg Bordenkircher, acting U.S. attorney, has said all of the suspects allegedly paid little or no rent for more than two years by understating their incomes or claiming to be unemployed.
